Ram 1500 wins a Triple Crown in Canadian Truck King Challenge

The Ram 1500 is no stranger to the Canadian Truck King Challenge. It won the competition back in 2014 and 2015, so when it was announced the winner for the third time in a row for 2016, no one was really surprised. The competition was fierce, with 11 great entries, but none of them were a match for the Ram 1500.

What is the Canadian Truck King Challenge?

The Canadian Truck King Challenge, for anyone unfamiliar with it, is a rigorous, competitive event held by a third-party which aims to find the best pickups and commercial vehicles by comparing them head-to-head. It’s comprised of seven expert judges from across Canada which put the trucks through their paces in a set of grueling and difficult exercises. The focus is put on capabilities such as towing or payload hauling, but fuel consumption, advanced features, and off-roading abilities all play a big role in the outcome.

The Excellence of the Ram 1500

Previous years saw the Ram 1500 with an EcoDiesel 3.0 V6 enter the competition, but this year, Ram Truck Canada was asked to enter the competition with their volume model. In this case, that’s the Crew Cab Ram 1500 Sport 4×4 with a 5.7-liter HEMI V8 under the hood. The HEMI® engine is also a six-time winner of the infamous Ward’s automotive “10 Best Engines.” In the Ram 1500, it overshadowed three new, refreshed half-ton trucks, proving once again that there is still no match for the Ram 1500. Elsewhere, the Ram 2500 won the ¾-ton category in the same Canadian Truck King Challenge, so now not only does Ram hold the half-ton and overall truck title, but the ¾-ton segment as well.
